Click HERE to view Graveside Services for Vickie Bennett Vickie Ruth Bennett was granted her angel wings on August 21, 2020. She was born on February 2nd, 1958 in Murray, Utah to Leon and Ruth Dawes. Vickie grew up in Kearns, Utah with her sisters, Debbie and Peggy and brothers, Richard and Glen. She developed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. On March 25, 1975, Vickie married her first love, Gary McKell Hughes who preceded her in death in 1977. She then married James Howard Bennett on March 21, 1980 who also preceded her in death in 2012. She worked many years for the State of Utah. It wasn't the easiest of jobs but she always had a way of brightening up the day. Just ask any of her co-workers about her pranks and you're guaranteed to get a smile. Vickie was a dedicated and caring mother and grandma. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them. She had nothing but unconditional love and they knew it, what a blessing. She fought so many battles and continued to fight right up until the end and for that they will forever be grateful. They will mourn the loss of her but find great comfort knowing she is no longer in pain and is with their dads and grandpa. She was cherished by so many friends and family. Always so willing to lend a helping hand or help out in any way possible. She had a way of comforting people so much that many considered her a 2nd mother. She will forever be in the hearts of many. Vickie lived a life full of adventures. She loved spending time in Lake Powell with her family where they were always hitting rocks with the boat, or driving razors where she nearly drove off the mountain on more than one occasion. She loved to fish but could never catch anything. She always had a great time going on trips with her partner in crime and dearest friend, Debbie. She loved sweets, especially Hagen Daz ice cream and banana cream pie. Was an avid Barbie and coin collector and enjoyed decorating her gardens with frogs and turtles. She was always watching the Price is Right, watched the same soap operas for 40+ years and always caught Dr. Phil on at 4:00. She would occasionally go gambling and although she never won somehow she always managed to "break even." She developed a deep love for animals and although said she didn't like them she was always caught petting, snuggling and giving nicknames to her kids' pets. She was somewhat of a trouble maker, always choosing which rules to follow and which ones to break. Anyone who was close to her will definitely miss the way she always seemed to keep you on your toes. Vickie is survived by her children, Jerry Hughes, Shelly (Chris) Fowlks, and Kristy Bennett. Grandkids, Braxton, Bella and Mason. Sister, Debbie (Tony) Nguyen, brothers, Richard Dawes and Glen Dawes. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Gary and James, parents, Leon and Ruth Dawes, brother, Steve, sister, Peggy, in-laws Roldo Max (Biggs) and Caroline Bennett and Earl and Thelma Hughes, along with many others who were up there waiting for her. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 6-8pm at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral home 1007 West South Jordan Parkway(10600 So), South Jordan, Utah. Please bring a mask as social distancing regulations will be observed. Graveside services and a celebration of life will be held on Friday at 1:00pm in the Delta City Cemetery 450 750 N, Delta, Utah. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Neuro ICU staff at IMC for their kindness and compassion given to them during this difficult time and deeply appreciate the opportunity to visit.
