William Henry Bishop Metcalf Obituary (2016 - 2016)

We handed our little Henry over to his Heavenly Father at 11:15pm on Sunday, September 18th, 2016.Our little Angel was born 6 weeks early at just 3 pounds, 1 ounce. Henry was born with Trisomy18, or Edwards syndrome, along with billiary atrisia, pyloric stinosis, holes in his heart and weak lungs. He endured pnemonia, NEC, an intestinal infection and several other complications, along with a broken arm that came from a speedy delivery. After chest compressions to start Henry's heart and once his respiration was stable, he and his daddy boarded Life Flight to Primary Children's hospital while mommy anxiously remained behind. Henry quickly made many friends with, doctors, nurses, residents and Barb, his beloved physical therapist. When we realized we weren't going to be able to bring Henry home, we realized that he was home. Henry was blessed to have many 'mommies' watching over him day and night that loved him unconditionally. We celebrated his little victories, and watched as he triumphed over gigantic mountains. We had 75 amazing days with him, strange how you can love someone after such a short time. The last 75 days have been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, joy and sorrow. We have had weak moments and strong moments. Henry was blessed to be a beacon of hope to those that came in contact with him. Through him, others have seen a brighter future, and have been blessed to see one another as they are, with more gratitude in their hearts. More people will be more loving, accepting and understanding of each other. Henry has taught me to see the sunshine through the trees, to thrive and not just survive. To enjoy each and every moment, to see the beauty even in the darkest moments and to trust in God and His eternal plan. The day Henry passed was the most tender and beautiful of all my memories. Henry was a 'love sponge', he loved all he came in contact with and enjoyed being sweetly touched and loved on. There were many moments that he just listened and seemed so happy to just be. Henry was constantly surrounded by love. He had a soft cry and a tiny peanut body. He loved his snowman and found comfort in it. Henry loved his life and lived it with patience and wisdom that seemed beyond his little body. Henry has touched so many lives, he has given hope and inspired love. He has brought about opportunities to forgive and to heal. We have been reminded of what is truly important in life. The relationships we build while we are here. We have been reminded that none of us can get through life alone. Henry is survived by his Mother and Father, brothers Taylor, Collin and sisters Alyssa, Piper and Darci. He will be sorely missed, but we will be forever changed, uplifted and inspired by our sweet moments and memories of Henry. We will see Henry again, until that moment he will always be by our side. We will feel him in the breeze, at each joyful moment, and in the warmth of the sun. Henry brought strength, love and hope. We love you baby Henry. You are brave, you are strong and you are loved. Viewing at 10am, funeral to follow at 11am. We will then proceed to Valley View Memorial Park at 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley, Utah 84120 (approximately 12:30pm). Balloon Launch and Luncheon for family and friends at the LDS church building, 6000 West and 3600 South, West Valley, Utah 84128 (approximately 1:00pm). **Please wear your hope for Henry shirts to this event if you have them!
