Our mother, wife, sister, and friend passed away suddenly on April 30, 2018.\r\n \r\n Barbara was born in Santa Monica, California, on January 24, 1941 to Albert and Leona Carter. The family eventually moved to Orem Utah where she attended the local schools and then graduated from Orem High School in 1959.\r\n\r\n\r\nOne day while working at a bank in Salt Lake City, she meet our father. He was a handsome young man who came selling photo package to the pretty ladies. This is when their great love affair began. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1964. Then the adventure began. They raised 5 children moving from Utah to Colorado, and then California where a 6th child completed the family.\r\n\r\n Mom was the happiest when surrounded by family. As a family we made countless trips to Utah for the annual 4th of July reunion at Geneva Park.\r\n\r\n Once our family moved to Draper Utah in 1988. She loved to gather family for Thanksgiving, Easter, and other family gatherings that she planned. Mom was famous for the thoughtful gifts of candy and practical joke toys.\r\n\r\n She is survived by her sweetheart Ira Hanks Allen and 6 children- Jim (Amy), Wendy (Chet), Greg (Trish), Bryan (Vicki), Doug, and Kristen (Rocky). Her 5 siblings- Marjorie Rawlinson, Karl (Sherry) Carter, Colleen (Greg) Banks, Collette (Muzz) Stone, and Teresa (John) Allen, 14 Grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.\r\n\r\n Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Draper 6th LDS Ward House at 1227 E Walden Lane, Draper, Utah. Viewing will be held at the church on Friday, May 4, 2018. from 6:00-8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service.
