West Jordan, Utah

Barbara Ann Nielsen (Bouton), age 74, died on January 22, 2026, in West Jordan, Utah. She died peacefully of complications from cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 21, 1951, in Alexander, New York, the daughter of Harold Bouton and Marjorie Goodwin. A track runner in high school, she was nicknamed “Roadrunner” due to her long legs and speed. Barb relocated to Salt Lake in 1978 and became a unit secretary telemetry tech. Employed by Intermountain Health for over 26 years, she loved her job and thoroughly enjoyed the many relationships she built with her co-workers. She also loved riding Harleys, going on vacation, and taking trips to Wendover. Known to be the life of the party and for her lack of a filter, she could always make you laugh. Barb was loved by many and will be missed.

Survived by her husband, Don Nielsen; two brothers, Billy (Elaine) Bouton and Jimmy (Diane) Bouton; son, Justin Bouton; daughters, Tamira Garrett and Trista (Rob) Miner; step-daughter, Patricia (Natalie) Nielsen; grandchildren, Tristen Bouton, Patrick Bouton, Gates Garrett, Crue Farris, Alexia Dominguez, Arriana Dominguez, Alexander Miner, Kolbie Garrett, Kyrin Garrett, and Heavynne Garrett; and great-grandson, Grayson Anderson. Preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Slim Bouton; and son, Tommy Garrett.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her Intermountain Health care teams. Your friendships, both old and new, brought her so much joy.

Barb thoroughly enjoyed her life and asked that everyone keep the good times rolling at a celebration on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 4-6 PM, at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley (1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, Utah). Please come in your favorite T-shirt and jeans.
