Connie Rigby

–

Murray, Utah

Connie Jill Epperson Rigby died on January 21, 2022 due to complications of old age. She was born on April 19, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frank Ross and Cora H Farmer Epperson. She grew up in Salt Lake and lived in the vicinity for most of her life. She graduated from West High School in 1949.

She married Harvey Frank Winward on August 18, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had 8 children: 4 girls and 4 boys. They later divorced.

Connie had the biggest heart and loved everyone. She grew up with doting parents and was always helping her parents and grandparents. Her life was full of service to her family and those in need. When she was ten her brother Shelby was born, and she adored and doted on him.

She loved to sing to her children and grandchildren. Her voice was a comfort and joy to them. They all agree that she loved unconditionally and without guile.

She worked as a cashier at Safeway as a teen. She very much loved working with the Mentally handicapped at the Utah State Training School in American Fork. She saw the patients as angels and loved them as her own, often getting permission to bring some of them home with her. She also ran the "juice bar" at a health spa in Orem.

She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was devoted to her Heavenly Father and Jesus, and she was not ashamed to tell anyone about Them. She was involved in many church callings, but she was very good as the drama director. She would get all of the youth involved, including her own children.

She was a very resourceful woman, canning fruits and even involving her kids in squeezing grapes to can grape juice. The storage shelves were always full.

In her later life she married Melvin Rigby, who took loving care of her. He died in 2008.

Connie had a way of making people feel special and made every one of her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel like they were the most important person in her life. Her smile, her touch, and her devotion were genuine. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by 7 of her children, Julia (Arven) Roberts, Murray, Michael (Lori) Winward, Fort Worth, TX, Jenny (Robert) Moore, Woods Cross, James (Sandra) Winward, Murray, John (Val) Winward, Kearns, Joni Kesler, West Jordan, Jackie (Brian) Bracken, Murray. Her 37 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, with one more on the way, and her sister, Lois Curtis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Shelby, one son William Jeffery Winward and one grandson Dallin Clarke Winward.

The family would love to extend the warmest thanks for the fine people from Dignity Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care, especially Chaplain Justin Banks, Rosa Abanto and Clint Westenskow. We would also love to thank our Sister Jackie and her husband Brian and their family for taking care of Mom for the last 8 years.
