Daniel Thomas Ball, 65, lost his battle with esophageal cancer on Saturday, September 8, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. Dan was born January 2, 1953 in Colorado Springs, CO to Thomas Alvin Ball and Jean Ruth Anderson. He lived there until he was 8 years old then moved to Tempe, Arizona, before finally settling down in Sandy, Utah. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and caring heart. \r\nDan recently celebrated his 45th wedding anniversary with his best friend and soul mate, Donna Selin Ball. A great father and a good friend, he would give help to anyone in need. Dan worked on the railroad for 38 years, starting at Denver & Rio Grande, and finally for Union Pacific before retiring in 2013. \r\nDan was a jokester and continued his silly antics even through his final days. He brought joy and light to every person he met, regardless of the circumstances. His perspective on life was comical and refreshing and his loved ones never experienced a dull moment around him.\r\nDan is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Heather Druce (Robert), Rachel McPhie (DeRay), and Amelia Swapp (Vanya); 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Olivia Green; parents; brother, Tab Ball; sister, Cheri Schnepp; and mother-in-law, Lavon Selin.\r\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Midvalley 4th Ward, 8050 South 1100 East, Sandy, Utah, 84094. Visitation is 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. before the service.
