Francis Hendricus Van den Berg\n\n1949-2022 \n\nFrancis Van den Berg age 73, passed away June 26th 2022 of kidney disease enjoying his last days at East Canyon Resort. Born May 27th, 1949 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Hendricus Van den Berg and Maria Otto. He immigrated to the United States, March 19th, 1959. Becoming a proud citizen of the United States of America, May 2nd, 1968. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 12. Graduated from East High School & Salt Lake Community College. Served 4 years in the Navy as a hospital corpsman. Worked 38 years for the Department of Veteran Affairs, retiring in June 2006. He married his wife of 53 years, Lydia Westerman October 18th 1968 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple September 7th, 1971. He had 5 children and 6 grandchildren. He served in various church callings, his favorite was working with the young men in Scouting. He enjoyed camping and fishing, first at Moon Lake and later at East Canyon Resort. He enjoyed reading and his long afternoon naps. \n\nSurvived by his wife, Lydia. His children David(Denise) Vandenberg of West Jordan; Karen(Jeff) Davis of Herriman; Matthew(Nicole) Vandenberg of Riverton; Jonathan(Natalie) Vandenberg of Herriman. His grandchildren Alyssa, Tyler, Grace, Jack, Adelaide, and Sloan. His Sister Geerdina(Kenneth) Hardman and Brother Walt(Karen) Vandenberg. \n\nPreceded in death by his parents; Sisters, Johanna Bullock and Corrie Wiltfong; Son, Robert Vandenberg.\n\nA private family funeral will be held. Interment South Jordan City cemetery.
