Powell and Goldie May Davis, October 18, 1930. The family soon moved to South Jordan in 1931. He was raised on the family farm; He graduated from Jordan High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years aboard the USS Antietam, USS Collett, USS Lofberg and served with his brother Lee aboard the USS Thomas F. Nickel. He loved the Navy and was proud to serve.\nHe married his sweetheart of 50 years, JoAnn Pack, Feb. 6, 1956 in Elko Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, September 15, 1967. He proudly served as Ward Clerk and Home Teacher.\nGene enjoyed retirement from Kennecott after 40 years and moved to Yuma, Arizona. He also resided in Mesquite, Nevada and St. George, Utah. Dad was a licensed contractor and built beautiful custom homes. He was a master finish carpenter.\nHe is survived by his sweetheart, JoAnn Powell, children; Judy Wilkison (Jerry), Kelly Powell (Susan), Jay Powell (Michelle) and Melony Lundgreen (Mark), 16 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren on the way, brothers; Lee Powell (Barbara) and Larry Powell (Cindy).He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John (Jack) and Keith. \nSpecial Thanks to the wonderful staff at Utah Cancer Specialists, Dr. Chandramouli, Dr. Hanson and First Choice Hospice Staff.\nFuneral Services will be held Friday, May 26, 2006 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.), 11:00 am, where friends and family may call Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 6-8 pm and 1 hour prior to the services on Friday.
