To view a video tribute for George Norris Lewis, please click here.\n“Hand in hand together forever”\nGeorge Norris Lewis, age 72 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on April 16, 2006, after a long courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis and the challenges life gave him. Born April 27, 1933 in Emery, Utah to George Udell and Phyllis E. Mortensen Lewis. Married Barbara Mara Maxfield on June 25, 1954 in the Manti Temple. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints where he served in various callings. Norris enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors. He also enjoyed family gatherings. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helping others and working with his hands were a passion. Norris worked for Eimco Mining Machinery for over twenty-five years. He retired in 1977. Survived by his six children Dawna (Dave) Olsen, Shirley (Steven) White, Kent (Lisa) Lewis, Janet (Steve) Southern, Kevin (Suzie) Lewis and Pat (Mike Ulibarri) Lewis; Nineteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; his parents, Sister Eunice Luke; Brothers, Donald Lewis, Ted Lewis, Kimball Lewis, the Maxfield family and his dearest friends Dar and Flora Peterson. Preceded in death by his eternal bride. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2006, 11:00 am, Pioneer LDS Chapel, 1145 W. 500 So. Friends and family may call Thursday 6-8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, and Friday 10-10:45 am at the church. Interment-Emery Cemetery.
