James John Michel passed away May 2, 2007. He stubbornly resisted the inevitable for 15 years; then, almost unexpectedly and quickly, he passed on to those waiting to greet him “home”. \n\nJim was born April 14, 1937 to George Michel and Francis Eby. He married Corinne Allison, October 18, 1957, and together they raised their 2 daughters, Teri and Mindi.\n\nAn engineer by trade, Jim worked in the aerospace and medical industries. For a short time he followed a dream, opening Big Bear Honda in Big Bear Lake, CA making it possible to live in the mountain resort town he loved. He loved to design, build, and work in his shop.\n\nJim was loved, respected and admired by his family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He was a quiet, gentle giant with rare and endearing qualities. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren become accomplished in their lives.\n\nHe is survived by his wife of 49 yrs, Corinne, daughter, Teri (Jeff) Hummel, grandchildren, Heather (Nick) Rasmussen, Todd (Annette) Hummel, and Nathan Hummel, 2 gr. grandchildren, and sister, Virginia. Preceding him “home” were his parents, sisters Julia Michel and Marilyn Lindberg, and daughter, Mindi.\n\nFuneral services will be held Monday, May 7 at 1 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary Chapel, 1007 W. So. Jordan Parkway, So. Jordan, UT. A viewing will also be held there Sunday, May 6, 5:30-7 p.m. and 12-12:45 p.m. Monday prior to services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
