On an early quiet summer morning, July 14, 2011, Loris Burkinshaw Wells peacefully slipped from mortality into her loving Heavenly Father’s arms. \n\nLoris was born on February 13, 1918 in Sandy, Utah, daughter of Albert and Flossie Ferguson Burkinshaw. She married Melvin T. Wells July 19, 1937, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple February 9, 1966. They enjoyed traveling and spending time together. Her family was her life; she took care of her husband and four scrapping boys. She was a loving, caring, compassionate woman. She loved to socialize and had a contagious laugh. She was an active member of the L.D.S church all her life and served in the Primary for over 40 years. She loved children. She worked at ZCMI and Young America Fashions for many years. She loved to knit, sew, crochet, and needlepoint and made many family treasures. She and Mel loved Christmas, making 100 pounds of homemade chocolates to share with family and friends. \n\nShe is survived by her four sons: Lynn (Janice) San Diego; Burke (Kathy) Midvale; Randy (Becky) Lehi; Brad (Lorna) Bountiful and a sister Wanda (Don) Crawford Salt Lake. She has 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin T. Wells; and brothers LaMar, Glen, Jay and sister Marie. We express thanks to Woodland Park staff for the compassionate care given to mom in her last years. \n\nFuneral services at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State, Wed. July 20, at 2 PM.
