Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margarite (Marge) Bean Townsend passed away peacefully at her home January 30, 2011 surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed.\n\nMarge was born March 16, 1927 in Wheelock, North Dakota to Alvin LeRoy Bean and Anna Karoline Nilsen. After graduating from high school, she moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University where she met her future husband, Delbert Earl Townsend. They were married June 20, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of six children: Terrie Butler, Rob (Manuela), Cindy (Phil Talbot), Steve (Cyndi), Ted, and Chris.\n\nFamily was Marge’s top priority and she dedicated her life to them. She worked for LDS Social Services. She opened her home to three foster children. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had an unwaivering testimony of Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in numerous Church callings. She was an avid genealogist. She served two missions with her husband at the Utah State Prison.\n\nMarge is survived by her loving husband of 60 years; 5 children; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. Proceeded in death by 1 son; 1 grandson; her parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. A special thanks to her loving caregivers, Jeannie Jorgensen and LaVon Eisenhower.\n\nFuneral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Murray 3rd Ward Chapel, 160 East 4600 South at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, Feb 3rd, and at the Ward House from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services on Friday. Burial will take place at Elysian Burial Gardens.
