Beatrice Marie Nickle Brown returned to her Heavenly Father June 23, 2007 at the marvelous age of 98. She had a frail, worn-out little body, which housed within a giant of a spirit. She was born May 14, 1909 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to Francis Clement Nickle and Nellie Rhodes Nickle and was the 7th of 10 children. She married Charles Wallace Brown June 6, 1931 and they were sealed in the Manti Temple.\n\nOur father loved our mother. They raised 6 wonderful children who were a great blessing. The children were blessed to be raised in a home where they knew they were loved and valued. Our father passed away in May 1985. They lived many years in Springfield, Missouri and were very active in the Springfield Branch of the LDS Church. She served as Relief Society President twice, Young Women President and Gospel Doctrine teacher. While serving in the Primary, she was the organist, teacher, and secretary all at the same time. In the winter, she would arrive early to build a fire to warm up the chapel. The branch was small, but many happy memories were made.\n\nThe family moved to Salt Lake City in 1957. She loved it and once again was very involved in church activities. Marie had a wonderful musical talent. Though she had limited instruction she made the piano sing with life, to the enjoyment of friends and family. She was the ward organist for many years. She was called as Primary pianist when she was 88 years old. Once she was asked what was her favorite position in the church? Her reply: “I love them all”. She was a semi-professional entertainer, giving musical readings in Utah, Missouri and Hawaii.\n\nHer skills as a seamstress blessed the lives of her children and her many dear nieces. She loved pretty cloths. She was looking for a new outfit for her 98th birthday party two weeks ago. She loved her Murray 11th Ward and her special gang. We are grateful for their many kindnesses given to our mother. She was loved and adored by all who knew her because of her never-ending unselfishness and devotion to her family and friends. Marie loved the gospel and faithfully studied the scriptures.\n\nAt this special time, we celebrate her life and the loving influence she has had and will always have with those who were fortunate to know her. We will always remember her special wave goodbye at the front door.\n\nSurvived by her children: Rose Marie Sewell, Bois D’Arc, Mo; W. Kay Brown (Patt), Jonell Pack (Ronald J.), Jon R. Brown (Julie), Toni White (Marlow), C. Reed Brown (Jane), all of Salt Lake County; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.\n\nFamily and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, June 27, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., Murray. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28th at Murray 11th Ward, 5750 S. Nena Way (100 West) where friends may call one hour before. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
