Piet and Rietje\nEeuwig te SamenMarie Bakker Van de Merwe passed peacefully of cancer Jan 6, 2010.\nShe was born June 25, 1930, SLC, UT. At age 2 she moved to Holland\nand lived there with her family enduring the challenges of WWII. In\n1947 they immigrated to SLC. She met Piet at a Dutch dance and they\nwere soon wed and happily married for 56 yrs. Together they enjoyed\nracing pigeons, outdoor activities, traveling and dancing.In 1995 they were sealed in the LDS temple and spent many days doing temple\nwork fulfilling Marie’s passion of genealogy. The family history she\nleft was her legacy and her Dutch heritage and traditions will always\nbe treasured by her posterity. Marie was a talented homemaker. Being\nan associate at ZCMI gave her much satisfaction.She is survived by\ndaughter Connie (Tuck) Nipko, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren,\nsiblings Frank, Robert, Ernest, Siby, Connie, Hetty. Preceded in death\nby husband, infant son, infant daughter and infant grandson.Service\nMonday January 11, 2010, Jenkins-Soffe, 4760 S State, Murray. Viewing\n11 to 11:45; service at Noon. Interment Mt Olivet Cemetery.
