Mark David Stanley, born on August 18, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Annette Shewell Stanley and F. David Stanley, passed away at age 60 on May 2, 2018 in South Jordan, Utah, surrounded by his wife and children. After fighting and suffering with multiple myeloma for over 3 years, he has finally found peace and returned to the presence of his Heavenly Father. He graduated from West High School in 1975 during which time he enjoyed serving on seminary council and earned the nickname “Crammer” while playing on their state championship basketball team. He was in the Water management industry as an O&M Superintendent at Salt Lake City Public Utilities where he worked for over 36 years. Mark married the love of his life, Julie Stanley, October 17, 1979. He always made it known to his children and others around him of his undying love for her. He is survived by his wife, Julie (Thompson) Stanley; children, Adam Stanley (Lisa), Kelsie Hawkes (Jared), Tyler Stanley, and O. Mark Stanley; parents, F. David and Annette Stanley; siblings, Debbie Wright (Bill), Diana Thomas (Brian), Doug Stanley (Vicki), Matthew Stanley (Lisa), Cathy Peacock (Lee), David Stanley (MaryAnn), Jenny Hansen (Thayne); and grandchildren, Kaydee, Parker, Carson, Myla, Talia, Carter, Baylor, and Tenley. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a deep love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He touched many lives through his faithful service and cherished his time as the first bishop of the Parkway 1st Ward. His hobbies included cheering his children from the sidelines and providing support and counsel to those around him. Many thanks to the talented doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals that helped prolong our father’s life. And special thanks to our Dad who always kept his promises, taught the value of hard work, and kept his faith in God until the very end - we love you more than words can describe and know we will see you again. Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation on Sunday, May 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah, 84095. Prior to the funeral service, a visitation will take place on Monday, May 7 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Parkway Stake Center, 9894 S 2700 W, South Jordan, Utah, 84095. The funeral service will follow from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the Parkway Stake Center.
