Mark D. Turner passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17th surrounded by his loving family at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.\n\nHe was born on September 22, 1938 to Chris Nakano in Salt Lake City. Adopted by Verland Turner and Irma Strong Turner. Brothers Dick (Norma), Blaine (Lillian), Chriss (Julie), Robert Nagata (Lena), David Lloyd (Joan) and his sister Alice (Duane) Hamblin.\n\nHe attended school at Murray and Jordan High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1956 and served honorably for four years. He met the love of his life in Eastern Kentucky, Shirl O’Bryan and they were married on December 17, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Williamson, West Virginia. They returned to Salt Lake City and were blessed with two daughters, Michelle (Douglas) Schneider and Jennifer (Michael) Young and two grandchildren Emily and Thomas Young.\n\nHe attended the University of Utah for a Business degree. He was an owner of Amherst Kitchen Cabinet in Murray, Utah. He worked for Freedom Mortgage as a Loan Officer for Kevin Gates. He loved the great outdoors and spent many peaceful hours fishing, as well as camping, boating, river rafting and skiing with family and friends. He was an excellent golfer even scoring a hole-in-one. He coached softball for the Murray Bonnet Ball league and church basketball for the neighborhood boys. He lived life to the fullest and touched the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.\n\nThe family would like to thank Dr. Mark Zenger for all his loving care.\n\nA viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011. Funeral services will be held at the Murray 25th Ward Chapel, 363 East Vine Street on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing from 12 to 12:45 p.m.
