Matthew Pomaikai Kaopua, much beloved husband, father and son was born on December 11, 1952 passed away Friday, November 20, 2009.\n\nMatthew was a native of Hawai’i and attended Punahou High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at BYU Hawai’i and his Masters Degree at the University of Utah. Matthew was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served a mission in the El Salvador/Guatamala mission. Matthew was a LCSW working for Aetna as a director.\n\nMatthew is survived by wife of 34 years, Dannyette Piimanu Kaopua, and four daughters Desirae Carnahan - Husband Tim Carnahan and three children Elise, Mathias, and Reganne, Dena Estey – Husband Jeff Estey and two children Lilliaunna and Kamailei, Monique Kaopua Ambuehl - Husband Paul Ambuehl, Maddison Bowlden – Husband Ryan Bowlden , son Brycen, and Matthew’s mother Emily Kaopua, and sister, Kuulei Narciso, and youngest sister Sally. Matthew was preceded in death by his father George Kaopua, and his brothers George Kaopua Junior, and Anthon Mooney Kaopua.\n\nMatthew will be remembered for his kind heart, wit, integrity and family oriented values.\n\nViewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. S Jordan Parkway (10600 S.) South Jordan, UT 84095 on Monday November 30, 2009. 6 pm – 8pm and Tuesday from 10 – 10:30 at the church.\n\nFuneral Services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 11am at Country Crossing 2nd Ward, 3200 W. 10860 S., South Jordan, UT 84095., followed by burial services.
