Darrell Holder Card was born on November 8th, 1926 to Louise Ann Holder and Earl F Card in Salem, Utah. He passed away on April 12th, 2018 peacefully in his home. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gene, Eula and Junior.

As a child he was very active and outgoing. He enjoyed many sports and was involved in many school plays, often as the lead. He was the junior class president of his high school and the editor of the school paper. After graduation he served for 16 months for the United States Navy during World War Two in the Philippines. He told the story that the day he got out of boot-camp was the day that the Japanese surrendered. He said they must have known he was coming for them. He received a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry from Brigham Young University in 1950 where he was part of the Brigadiers Social Club. He received a Masters from the University of Utah in Engineering Administration in 1967.

He worked as a lab instructor during his senior year of college where he met Wynnette Kartchner. He said she attracted him like a moth to a candle. They married in the Logan temple on September 1st, 1950. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, their 6 children and their spouses- Darelyn (Doug), Dyann (Dan), William (Marla), Miriam (Roger), Dave (Angie), and Mike (Misty)- as well as 32 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

He led a remarkable life full of travel, education, and fishing trips. He was a chemist and manufacturing engineer with an impressive career. Throughout his career he worked for the Bureau of Reclaimation, Dugway proving ground, Dupont, Thiokol, Northrop, Lockheed, Ford Bacon Davis, and finally retiring from Hercules in Salt Lake City. With his wife, he served three missions – South Africa, Johannesburg in 1991; England Bristol in 1995; and Hawaii Honolulu in 2001. He served many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including the scouting program, temple worker, and several bishoprics. Together, Darrell and Wynnette traveled the globe visiting all 50 states, 6 continents, and numerous countries. They have spent the last five years living at Olympus Ranch Retirement Community.

He went fishing nearly every day of his young life and wished he was fishing every day of his adult life. He also loved reading and watching sports. His hobbies included polishing rocks and making jewelry to give to his daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters.
