Obituary for Paul D. Draper

Paul Dean Draper, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Paul was born on June 1, 1937 in Traer, Iowa to John “Jack” and Gladys Draper. Paul grew up on his parents’ farms in Buckingham and Traer, Iowa and graduated from Traer High School. He married Nancy Lou Forrester on November 17, 1956 and moved with his family to Bountiful, Utah in 1964.
Paul retired from Consolidated Freightways after more than 30 years of service. He received many commendations for safe driving during his career, including a “million-miler” award. Paul was a “car guy.” He loved automobiles and automotive technology and was a superb mechanic. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family and working in his beautiful garden.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy L. Draper, April 2018; and by two brothers, John Jr. in 1995 and Merle in 2016.
Paul is survived by his two daughters, Derbie Lea Flygare (Richard Watts) of East Millcreek, Utah and Diane Draper (Don Schauerman) of Lone Tree, Colorado, and one grandson, Justin M. Baker of Salt Lake City.
A private memorial service and celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank A Caring Hand and Mesa View Home Health for the compassionate and attentive service they rendered while Paul lived in Mesquite, Nevada, from 2016 to 2018. Brighton Home and Hospice also provided kind and caring service to Paul and his family during his final days.
