Obituary for Lynn Thomas Reese

Lynn was born in a log cabin to Lotwick and Francis Reese in Bloomington, Idaho. He passed away after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Lynn married Carolyn Higham Riches on June 5, 1953 and later they solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple. Lynn was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local#3 where he was best at operating cranes, and cable rigs, although he could operate any piece of equipment if given the opportunity. During his time as an operator he was involved in some of the heaviest lifts in the industry. He was very skilled in construction and loved his work. A man of many talents he could fix or build anything and shared these talents with friends, family, and neighbors. For 26 years, a favorite time of life was building and visiting a cabin at Emerald Beach, Bear Lake where he created many memories with those closest to him. His passions included cars, trucks, and many outdoor adventure toys.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, two sisters, brother in law and best friend Bill Riches, son-in-law Deloy Woodard, grandsons David Lawrence and Jake Rowe. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Susan Woodard, son Thomas (Debbie) Reese, daughter Janet (Randy) Swensen, son Jon (Debbie) Reese, sister-in-law Joyce Riches, brother-in-law Ray (Jane) Riches, and best friends Scott and Shirley Johnson and their family from Lake Town, Utah, 17 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the LDS Church on 1410 Shields Lane (9800 S), South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be immediately following the services at the Murray City Cemetery 5490 So. Vine Street, Murray, Utah. Special Thanks to Dr. Imad Farrukh and ProCare Hospice for their compassionate care.
