Obituary for Charles Carl Rich, Jr.

On the bright, sunny morning of May 26th, Charles Carl Rich, Jr, our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Charles was called to his heavenly home to be joined with his two daughters, parents, siblings and many others who love him. He was a special husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Charles was born on June 26th, 1932 to Charles and Bernice (Buccambuso) Rich. He attended West High School after which he joined the U.S. Navy from 1953 through 1956. He married Shirley Dell on August 31, 1956 in Salt Lake City. Charles graduated from Salt Lake Community College as a Journeyman Plumber. He was a member of Local 19 for 55 years, traveling to Mexico, Canada and North Dakota. In March of 1984, he started working at Salt Lake City Airport Boiler Plant. He soon became Supervisor after 15 months, at which he worked until he retired. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved doing service projects for his church. Charles enjoyed meeting with old neighborhood friends on the last Wednesday of every month. He loved bowling with his Charlies Angels bowling team.

Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Carl (wife, Liz), and Perry; daughter, Penny (husband, Terry Rasmussen); son-in-laws, Gary Broadwater and Delwyn Price; 17 grandkids; and 19 great-grandkids. Preceded in death by his daughters, Cindy Broadwater and Tina Price.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Midvale 7th Ward, 8350 So. Jackson Street in Midvale, UT with a viewing from 10:00-10:45 a.m. An evening viewing on Thursday, May 31, 2018 will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Charles will be laid to rest in the Murray City Cemetery, 5490 So. Vine Street, Murray, UT 84107.
