Obituary for Dorothy Marie Abbott Croft

Dorothy Marie Abbot Croft, 83, South Jordan, Utah died June 7, 2018 in south Jordan, Utah. Born May 2, 1935, Delta, Utah, She was the daughter of Lawrence Elnathan Abbott and Trula Marie Cary Abbott.

Dorothy received her education in Delta, Utah. During those years, she served as the Vice President of her graduating class and received many vocal awards for her singing.

On November 6, 1953 Dorothy was sealed for eternity to her best friend Donald Carl Croft, in the Manti, Utah LDS temple. On September 21, 1954 Gary Donald Croft was born in Delta, Utah. Later, Lynda Marie Croft joined their family on November 1, 1956.

In 1966 they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. After retirement they moved to Henderson, Nevada.

Dorothy had many passions in life. First and foremost was her family. She was an avid family photographer and genealogy record keeper. Dorothy was a hard worker. When she and Don owned their farm she was an expert at raking and bailing the hay.

Dorothy had a talent for music, she sang at many weddings, funerals and church meetings. She loved to share her talent. She also sang with the Singing Mothers in the LDS Tabernacle.

Dorothy loved to read. She spent many hours in her easy chair. Her favorites were “The Work and the Glory” series.

Dorothy was an amazing seamstress and crocheter. She would sew Don’s suits and made many baby blankets.

Dorothy was known for her remarkable kindness. Everyone was treated warmly. In fact, the Clark County Recorder’s Office in Las Vegas, awarded her for her courteous and dedicated service. She retired in 1993.

After retirement, Don and Dorothy bought their second home (an R.V.) and traveled with friends and family throughout the United States.

In 2013 Dorothy and Don moved to South Jordan, Utah. They loved to take walks in the beautiful setting where they lived.

Dorothy loved to play pranks, peach colored roses and the color pink.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence (Nate) Abbott and Trula Abbott, sister E. Arlene and granddaughter JanaLyn Croft.

She is survived by her beloved Don of South Jordan, Utah; son Gary of Henderson, Nevada and daughter Lynda od Midvale, Utah; siblings Lawrence, Dale, Barbara and Neal, two grandchildren; Andrea Huckstep of Henderson, Nevada and son Dustin Croft of Las Vegas, Nevada, and 10 great-grandchildren
