“Gene”

Oscar Eugene “Gene” Magers Jr., caring husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday June 8, 2018 at 91 years old. Gene was born Dec. 17, 1926 to Oscar Eugene Magers Sr. and Clara Atkinson Fox Magers in Salt Lake City. He married Lois May Meinhart at Memory Grove in Salt Lake City on Jan. 14, 1948. They were happily married almost 50 years when Lois passed away.
Gene received his GED after joining the Marines at age 17, during WWII. There, he developed a love for aircraft engineering and maintenance which led to a long engineering career. His favorite position was teaching and training the new engineers. He also worked and retired from FAA, where he maintained the mainframe computer for the Federal Air Traffic control center.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, and his dirt bike. He also loved going on outings and vacations with family and friends. He was a “Jack of all Trades” and excelled in auto mechanics, wood working, welding and plumbing.
