“Gone Golfing”\nOn September 18, 2010, Ron Reid journeyed to play an endless round of golf on a course that puts Pebble Beach to shame. Surrounded by his family, Ron conceded to his long battle with emphysema, ending with words of caution for all smokers.Ron has owned the heavily trafficked Chevron on 500 South and West Temple for the past 50 years. He worked hard to play hard, and could be seen on the golf course, waterskiing, or dining at one of many favorite greasy spoons from St. George to Midway and everything in between.Ron’s greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his children, Rhonda Swant (Mark), Christee Roderick (Mike), Tammy Williams (Mike), Ronnie Reid (Cassie), ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Ron leaves many friends behind who will miss his practical jokes, his bets, and the ever famous call of “Baby” to all the wonderful women in his life.Ron is preceded in death by both of his parents, Margaret and Leo Reid. Ron’s family would like to express deep gratitude to Sandy Towns and David Lott from Care Source and Cassie Reid for providing Ron with comfort, care, and company in the last months of his life.A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., where friends may call from \n11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Ron will be interred at Murray City Cemetery.
