Teddy Diane Cheney passed away on May 12, 2018, due to complications from pneumonia. She was born to David J. Staker and Norma Dean Ryser on December 6, 1943, and was their sweet little girl for four whole years before any siblings came. Daddy was in the service, so that gave Norma plenty of time to make their girl a little smarty. \r\n\r\nAll through school, she was always very smart, and often the teachers would ask for her help because she was always more mature than the other kids. She was often a teacher’s favorite. \r\n\r\nIn the 70's Teddy taught an English program through a community program called Opportunities Industrialization Center "OIC", teaching Vietnamese and Hispanic people English in an attempt at gaining their high school diplomas and to gain access to better jobs through training. There she gained many close friends who have always been "family" in her eyes. \r\n\r\nIn 1994 Teddy married Fredrick G. Cheney in Lake Tahoe, and they spent 15 years traveling the world and making great memories together until his passing in 2009. Shortly after, her long-lost love, Gregory W. Hollie, returned to her from Baltimore to begin the last chapter of her life where they too traveled the world and enjoyed some of her favorite places including the Panama Canal and Jamaica. \r\n\r\nTeddy will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Ashley (Vaka) Latu, Amanda (Jay) Hunt, and Rickie Pellum. She will be fondly remembered by her seven great-grandchildren: Moana, Tiziana, Leta, Madison, Marley, Payton and Alex; and step-children, Greg Hollie Jr. and Carlisa Hollie. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Benson; daughter, Becky Southgate; grandson, Adam Ashton; sisters, Jan Western and Margarett Croley; and husband, Fred Cheney. \r\n\r\nForever loved by her true love Gregory W. Hollie. \r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday, May 18, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 19th, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home.
