“Woody”Woody Carmichael passed away peacefully at Care Source Care Center on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. He was born November 4, 1916 to Wilbur James and Sara Jane Carmichael in Barnard, Missouri. His father died when he was 7 years old. Married Doris Ruth Altop on August 3, 1941 in Boise, Idaho. He joined the Army before the war, when he left home at a young age. He was transferred to Salt Lake where he met Doris at a skating rink. He fought in the WWII conflict. Married for 70 “happy” years.He was a Master Carpenter by trade and worked for Jensen Construction building homes and commercial buildings. He loved all kinds of sports and was good at all. He was an active member of the Mt. Olympus Senior Center and taught line dancing there and at other Senior Centers for over 20 years.Woody is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Kathleen (Milan) Bursach; 2 grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father and mother; sister, Juanita; and daughter, Joyce Louise Johnson. He will be missed greatly by his friends and family.A Viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 12:30-1:30 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. Graveside Service at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
